Ukraine looks forward to the support of allies and an action plan to become a member of NATO in the near future. This was stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Razumkov, during a meeting with the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Joana, at the headquarters of the Alliance. On Monday, March 22, Razumkov announced the progress of the meeting on Facebook.
“The logical step on this path will be to obtain an Action Plan to become a member of the Alliance. We expect a consensus between the allies and the provision of MAP to Ukraine in the near future. For the Verkhovna Rada, strengthening cooperation with NATO is a priority. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the celebration had to be postponed. He stressed that the reform of Ukraine’s military and security sectors in accordance with NATO standards is a priority for the authorities. According to Razumkov, Ukraine has already made a series of decisions that bring it closer to Euro-Atlantic integration and continues to advance along this path.
Razumkov also noted that Ukraine appreciates the Alliance’s decisive position regarding the annexation of Crimea and the aggression in Donbass, as well as the support of NATO member states for reforms in Ukraine.
