Parliament will not vote on the budget in first reading before local elections. On October 20, the president will speak in parliament.
The Verkhovna Rada cannot vote in the first reading on the bill on the state budget for 2021 at a meeting on October 20. This was announced on Thursday, October 15, by the first deputy head of the BP fiscal committee Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram.
According to him, the nominal reason is that the budget committee will not have time to prepare the final text of the proposals and the real reason is that there are not enough votes.
“In general, there are only 210-220 votes for such a decision before the elections. And that is optimistic. And if others do not start pumping,” Zheleznyak wrote.
He noted that “the battle over the budget will be a brilliant stage in the battle for a new or old coalition after the November local elections.”
At the same time, according to the people’s deputy, the Rada meeting will take place on October 20 and “there will be a surprise.”
Zheleznyak also said that instead of voting on the budget, there will be an appeal from President Volodymyr Zelensky. The same information is confirmed by the media.
We recall, the Council of Ministers transferred the state budget for 2021 to the Rada on September 18. They plan to accept it until December.
