According to the court’s conclusion, the president of the Russian Federation will be able to participate in the elections again, regardless of the number of periods during which he served as head of state at the time the constitutional amendments took effect.
On March 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on holding a vote by all Russians on April 22 for amendments to the Russian constitution. However, on March 25, he announced that the vote would be postponed due to a pandemic of coronavirus infection.
