The Anti-Corruption Foundation has published an investigation into the so-called palace of Russian President Vladimir Putin near Gelendzhik in the Krasnodar Territory.
The investigation came a day after the Khimki court sent FBK founder Alexei Navalny to a remand center for 30 days after his return to Russia from Germany.
The investigation was conducted before Navalny’s arrest.
«There is a place where you can understand everything about Vladimir Putin. This is the most protected place in Russia, indeed a state within a state, and this is Putin’s biggest secret. That it is protected by hundreds, even thousands of people, from unknown guards, gardeners and builders to the richest and most famous people in Russia. A secret. A building. And we will visit it. Visiting Putin. Let us be convinced with our own eyes that this man, in his lust for wealth, is completely mad. We will discover who the money is with and how this luxury is financed. And how now and during the last 15 years, the largest bribery in history is being given and the most expensive palace in the world is being built ”, reads the prologue of the investigation.
So-called «Putin’s Palace “, also known as the Residence at Cape Idokopas, was built in 2005-2010 on the Black Sea coast, not far from Gelendzhik.
The fact that it was built for the president of Russia was announced in 2010 by businessman Sergei Kolesnikov. He also estimated the cost of the project at $ 1 billion.
An investigation by the Anticorruption Foundation allegedly revealed the scheme to finance the construction of the palace, in addition to showing its interiors.
«We not only have an investigation, but a psychological portrait. I really want to understand how a simple Soviet officer became a madman, obsessed with money and luxury. And ready to destroy the country and kill for the sake of their gold chests, ”says Navalny.
The investigation says that in the territory «Putin’s Palace ”has an ice palace, a church, a tea house with an area of 2500 square meters and an underground tunnel with access to the sea. And nearby there are vineyards, a castle and an oyster farm.
«The most secret and guarded facility in Russia, without exaggeration. This is not a country house, it is not a country house, it is not a residence; it is an entire city, but a kingdom. It has impregnable fences, its own port, its own guards, a church, its own access control, a no-fly zone and even its own border checkpoint, ”says FBK.
Great area around the palace (seven thousand hectares), according to the Foundation, belongs to the FSB.
«Can you imagine the Principality of Monaco? It is a small but still separate country. And here is a property the size of 39 principalities of Monaco. It was built so that it could not be reached by land, by sea or by air ”, says the investigation.
According to the FBK, thousands of people who work there are prohibited from carrying even a simple mobile phone with a camera. Arriving cars are inspected at various checkpoints, with the help of mirrors and moats with video cameras, trunks and glove compartments are checked.
The palace is said to be undergoing renovations due to it being damaged by mold. During the renovation, new facilities are being built.
The investigation also refers to the so-called «Putin’s corruption formula “:
- Nothing should be attributed to Putin. The money must be in different places, it must be managed by different people, apparently unrelated;
- Putin’s personal money is kept by those he met 30 years ago.
