The United States can no longer claim its former dominance, Germany and China are assuming the first roles, believes the Russian president.
Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that China and Germany are moving towards superpower status. He said this on Thursday, October 22, at a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, writes TASS.
“In terms of its economic weight and political influence, China is actively moving towards the position of a superpower. Germany is moving in the same direction,” Putin said.
At the same time, he noted that the role of Britain and France in international affairs has changed significantly.
“And the United States, which once absolutely dominated, can hardly claim exclusivity. Does the United States need this exclusivity anyway?” – Putin said.
“I want to tell those who are still waiting for the gradual disappearance of Russia: in this case, we are only concerned with one thing: how not to catch a cold at her funeral,” added the Russian president.
Nor did he agree with the idea of refusing to unite countries in international associations.
Note that at this time Russia and the United States are trying to agree on the extension of the treaty on the reduction and limitation of strategic offensive weapons. Recently, a compromise has emerged in the negotiations.
