Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended the sanctions (product import ban) against Ukraine and several other countries until December 31, 2021.
The corresponding decree of the head of the aggressor state has been published on the official Kremlin website. The food import ban applies to those countries that supported sanctions against Russia due to military actions against Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. The list of such countries includes the US, EU, Australia, Norway, Canada, Albania, Montenegro, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Ukraine.
The list of products that fell under the ban was expanded: initially it was meat, milk and fish and their products, then the list was expanded: the import of live pigs, offal, fats and animal oil was prohibited.
Since August 6, 2015, in accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On certain special economic measures used to ensure the security of the Russian Federation” (signed on July 29, 2015), products from “sanctioned” countries are subject to destruction.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, on September 10, the European Union officially extended for six months sanctions against 175 individuals and 44 organizations involved in undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
EU sanctions against Russia included, among other things, a ban on investing in Russian projects, a ban on the sale of military goods and dual-use goods to Russia.
