Putin, in a conversation with the Serbian president, pointed out that neither the Russian state nor himself were behind Zakharova’s words.
Zakharova found herself at the center of the scandal after, in her Facebook comment about a photo of US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Vucic, she compared the Serbian politician to the heroine in the movie Basic Instinct.
The photo of Vucic Zakharova, sitting in front of Trump, was accompanied by a scene from the film where the heroine sits “face to face”, signing that this is how it was necessary to sit in this situation.
Vucic himself reacted to Zakharova’s comparison. In an interview with Serbian radio Pink he said about the “primitivism and vulgarity” displayed by the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, as well as about his employers. The Serbian president indicated that he would not respond. He stressed that only his country has not introduced sanctions against Russia and is conducting military exercises with the Russian Federation.
