Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke about the observance of the ceasefire in Donbas. The leaders had a telephone conversation.

This was reported by the Kremlin press service.

Merkel and Putin spoke about the coronavirus vaccine, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the settlement in Donbass.

“Putin and Merkel noted with satisfaction that, in general, the ceasefire is being observed in the Donbass,” the message says.

At the same time, leaders are concerned about the lack of progress in implementing the political aspects of the 2015 Minsk accords, as well as the Normandy Four decisions taken a year ago at the Paris summit.

“The intention to continue joint work in the Normandy format was confirmed, including through political advisers to the leaders of Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine,” the message says.

We will recall, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Ukraine is interested in the TCG negotiations and the Normandy meeting. The Ukrainian side needs the result of these processes.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to TCG Leonid Kravchuk proposed to hold a “Normandy meeting” at the leadership level at the end of 2020.
