Registration of all VKontakte users will require very expensive equipment
Violation of the privacy of correspondence and communication on the Internet is allowed only on the basis of a court decision, according to the Internet Association of Ukraine.
The registration of Ukrainian users of the social network VKontakte is contrary to current legislation. This was stated by the head of the Committee of the Ukrainian Internet Association for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedom of Expression, Maxim Tulyev, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine edition, published on Friday, October 9.
According to him, this is technically impossible, as few of the operators have the right equipment. And the violation of the secrecy of correspondence and communication on the Internet is allowed only on the basis of a court decision.
“Therefore, it will be simply illegal to scan all VKontakte users,” the expert emphasized.
According to him, it is theoretically possible to force Internet providers to use DPI (Deep Packet Inspection – systems for deep traffic analysis), but this is extremely expensive and technically complex equipment.
