Furthermore, opposition representatives described the parliament as illegitimate and abandoned their mandates. In general, several requirements were raised:
- new parliamentary elections
- resignation of Tamar Zhvania
- release of political prisoners
After the ultimatum was not fulfilled in time, the protesters announced an indefinite action. In this regard, the police used water cannons against the protesters when they approached the CCA building.
An unprecedented number of police patrols and special forces are also reported to be at the scene. The protesters continue their attempts to reach the CEC building.
Let us remember that immediately after the elections, the opposition did not recognize them, announcing massive violations and falsifications. Tents were set up near the parliament building.
According to preliminary data, the ruling Georgian Dream obtained the majority of the votes in the elections: 48.23%. The second result was obtained by the opposition coalition “National Movement – Force in Unity” – 27.17%.
In the context of the protests, an investigation was launched into an attempt to overthrow the government in the country.
