A protest action “March for Women’s Peace” takes place today in Minsk due to harsh arrests and torture of protesters. Similar actions are also taking place in other cities of Belarus.

The Belarusian edition TUT.by reports on this.

At least 4 thousand people participate in the march, there are almost no men among them. The head of the column has already approached Victory Square, near which is located the Minsk State Linguistic University, where on the eve of the security forces seriously detained the students.

A convoy of cars with white, red and white flags passed the protesters near the Ploshchad Pobedy metro station in solidarity.

Movement along Pobeda Avenue, where the column is advancing, was blocked by security agents. Only buses, minibuses and cars with law enforcement officers are allowed through.

We remind you that yesterday the Belarusian security forces went to the universities in Minsk and detained students for taking part in protest actions; according to official data from the Interior Ministry, more than 40 people were arrested.

Given this, today the students returned to attend a protest action, which was accompanied by arrests.
