Opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said who she sees as a mediator in the resolution of the internal political crisis in Belarus. Russia can be one of the participants in the negotiations.

She said this in an interview with the Euronews television channel.

According to Tikhanovskaya, Russia is a friendly country for Belarus, therefore, if international mediation is needed in the negotiations, they can go to Moscow.

The opponent added that now the activities of the coordinating council in Belarus are aimed at negotiations with the current government.

“We hope that the dialogue will begin as soon as possible so that the political crisis does not hit the country’s economy very hard,” he explained.

Let us remind you that massive protests broke out in Belarus on August 9 over the possible falsification of the presidential elections. According to official results, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko won with 80.1% of the support, while his main opponent, Tikhanovskaya, received 10.1% of the votes. The opposition believes that, in fact, Tikhanovskaya won the elections and demands a peaceful transfer of power.

The European Union and Canada asked Lukashenka to accept OSCE mediation to resolve the internal political crisis in Belarus.

Furthermore, French President Emmanuel Macron hopes that Russia will convince Lukashenko of the need for OSCE mediation.
