Belarusian human rights activists continue to establish the number of people detained during today’s protests in the country’s cities. Almost 300 people have already been arrested.

The human rights organization “Viasna” reports on this.

As of 10:30 pm, the number of detainees in the protests in Belarus is at least 274. Among those detained are minors and journalists.

Some of the detainees are being held in police stations, others have already been sent to isolation wards. Another part was released, the whereabouts of the rest of the detainees have not yet been clarified.

We recall that today the cities of Belarus held protest actions against the regime of the unrecognized president Alexander Lukashenko. The protest actions were accompanied by violent dispersions and arrests.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, in Minsk the security forces used weapons during the dispersal of the protesters. Security forces fired into the air to scare off the protesters.

In addition, this week Lukashenka threatened protesters that “they will not take anyone prisoner.”
