The number of people arrested during today’s protests against Alexander Lukashenko’s regime in Belarus has risen to 194 people. Some of them are detained in police stations, others were transferred to isolation wards.
This was reported by the Belarusian human rights organization Viasna.
According to human rights activists, some of the detainees have already been transferred to pre-trial detention centers on Zhodino and Akrestsin streets. There, obviously, they will wait for the court hearings.
Among those arrested are at least five journalists. Minors are also known to be among those detained.
Most of those arrested were in Minsk, but protesters were also detained in other cities in the country, notably in Zhodino, Svetlogorsk, Brest, Gomel and Smorgon.
Let us remember that initially about 70 people were arrested, including a journalist from the Belsat television channel.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, in Minsk the security forces dispersed the protesters with the help of special means, in particular, the police fired rubber bullets into the air.
We add that in yesterday’s protests in Belarus, security officials detained about 60 people.
