Amid protests in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko sacked Interior Minister Yuri Karaev. Ivan Kubrakov was appointed in his place.
The local portal TUT.BY informs about this.
Former Interior Minister Yuri Karaev is reported to have been appointed assistant to the President of Belarus in the Grodno region.
The new head of the Interior Ministry was Ivan Kubrakov, who had previously led the police in Minsk.
It should be noted that on the eve of Karayev, in an interview with channel Belarus 1, he said that the security forces who broke into the apartments of Minsk residents did not violate the law. These are the incidents when protesters tried to hide from the police in other people’s apartments.
Recall, earlier Karaev also claimed that the security forces managed to bring down the first wave of protests, but now the second wave is observed in the country.
In addition, it was learned that students began to be expelled in Belarus for participating in protests. In particular, the deductions began at the Belarusian State Medical University. The university administration also continues to threaten students for participating in the national strike. Before that, President Alexander Lukashenko personally called for massive deductions.
