Nearly 450 protesters arrested in Belarus every day

In Belarus, on Sunday, September 20, security agents arrested 442 protesters. More than 20 thousand people participated in the actions.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of the Interior of Belarus.

It is observed that yesterday 24 protest actions were registered in various settlements in the country. The most ambitious actions were carried out in Minsk, about 18 thousand people participated in them.

“In total, 442 citizens were arrested yesterday for violating the legislation on mass events (of which 266 were in Minsk). Before the consideration of administrative offenses in court, 330 people were placed in places of detention,” said the Ministry of Interior.

Note that according to human rights activists, on September 20, at least 230 people were arrested in Belarus. Arrests were recorded in Minsk, Grodno, Gomel, Brest and Mogilev. At the same time, among those detained was a member of the Belarusian opposition coordination council Oleg Moiseyev, who in the presidential elections was a confidant of former candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.

It was also reported that during the demonstration in Brest, the security forces used tear gas against the protesters.
