In Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, thousands of protesters took to the streets calling for a boycott of French products and accusing French President Emmanuel Macron of “fueling extremism”. It is informed by RFI.
The protests emerged after Macron defended the right to publish satirical cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
According to estimates by the local police, more than 40,000 people participated in the procession.
Earlier this month, President Macron unveiled a “plan to defend France’s secular values” from “Islamist separatism” and described Islam as a religion “in crisis.”
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron said at a Defense Council meeting that “Islamists will not sleep well in France.”
Kadyrov was also reported to have accused Macron of supporting the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
