The Kyrgyz Parliament on October 10 officially elected Sadyra Zhaparova the new prime minister of the country.
The deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament of the republic) in an extraordinary meeting voted in favor of this decision unanimously, reports the local portal 24.kg.
Parliament also unanimously approved the composition and structure of the government. Following the resignation of Prime Minister Kutatbek Boronov, Zhaparov fulfilled his duties.
As the prime minister said, President Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov will sign his resignation within two or three days.
“During the negotiations with Jeenbekov, he said that after the parliament approves the new prime minister, he will sign a letter of resignation within two or three days.”, – cited the policy “Interfax”.
As the new head of government pointed out, in the post of prime minister, he will propose the introduction of a single-mandate parliament, as well as a kurultai system, a body of popular representation.
Note that Sadyr Japarov until 2005 managed a number of companies. He then became a deputy for Jogorku Kenesh, served as an advisor to the president of the republic, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, and was commissioner of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.
On March 25, 2017, he was arrested on the border with Kazakhstan and sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in a maximum security colony… The politician was accused of participating in the hostage-taking. The court ruled that on October 7, 2013 in Karakol, during a rally organized by Zhaparov, its participants forcibly pushed Emil Kaptagaev, the then plenipotentiary representative of the government in the Issyk-Kul region, into the car.

The protesters took over the parliament building (the White House), which also houses the presidential administration, and several other state institutions. The parliament building was burned down.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev was detained on October 10 by law enforcement officers. This is reported to have happened in the context of organizing mass riots in Bishkek.
