Myanmar security forces opened fire at the funeral on Sunday, when people from across the country gathered to mourn the dead the day before in the worst crackdown since the military coup. On Saturday, March 27, 114 people died.
Mourners fled the shooting to serve in Bago, near the commercial capital of Yangon. No casualties were reported.
“While we were singing a song about the revolution, the security forces just came and shot us,” said a woman named Ai, who was on duty.
We will recall, during the protests on Saturday, that the Myanmar security forces killed 114 people. It is the “bloodiest day of violence” since the military coup last month.
On February 1, after the elections in Myanmar, the military seized power and arrested the president. They staged a coup that sparked protests in the streets.
It was also reported that the European Union is preparing to expand sanctions on the Myanmar military in response to the coup.
