Prisoner Exchange: Why not include Russia’s criminals and prisoners on the lists

[ad_1]

To date, exchanges of criminals and Ukrainians in Russian prisons are not discussed in the Tripartite Contact Group (TCG). The reason is a completely different track and the above question is not a TCG format.

This statement was made in the comment to the Today newspaper by Oleksiy Reznikov, the representative of Ukraine in the TKG political subgroup and the Deputy Prime Minister for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories.

Note why the names of the people who will be rescued from the captivity of the fighters are kept secret: Reznikov’s explanation

Reznikov emphasized that The issue of the release of criminal prisoners and prisoners from Russian prisons remains on the Kiev officer’s agenda.

“But I want to remind everyone that The Minsk and TKG formats were created by the Norman format to end the war with Russia in eastern Ukraine“”, Said.

Resnikov continued, The Normandy format is of four leaders:

  • Vladimir Zelensky (formerly Petro Poroshenko) – from Ukraine,
  • Angela Merkel – from Germany,
  • This is Emmanuel Macron (formerly Francois Hollande), from France,
  • Vladimir Putin – from Russia.

The official added that the Minsk process and the TKG were created only on issues of international military conflict in the Donbass – parts of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.

The Minsk process is not related to the negotiations on the occupation of Russia by Crimea and the political prisoners there. These are parallel paths in which the state of Ukraine also participates, it is the negotiators who lead it, the president and his team remember this. But the Minsk process and the exchange of April 16 only concern this part,
– Reznikov explained.
