“The whereabouts of Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov are unknown. For security reasons, the decision was made to close the border,” said Deputy Security Council Chief Omurbek Suvanaliev.

He noted that the country’s top officials have not appeared in public since the start of the protests in the country.

“The officials who left their jobs are in secret places. We cannot say exactly where, many of them are hiding,” he said.

At the same time, Jeenbekov’s press secretary Tolgonai Stamalieva told TASS that the president is in Bishkek. According to her, he personally negotiates with all political forces.

Let us remind you that on the night of October 5, massive protests began in the Kyrgyz capital over disagreement with the results of the last parliamentary elections. The protesters seized a series of administrative buildings and released several former senior politicians in the country from the remand center.

On the morning of October 6, the country’s CEC announced that it did not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections. The re-election date is slated to be announced in the next two weeks.

In turn, the Kyrgyz President announced an attempted coup. According to Sooronbai Jeenbekov, he ordered the security forces not to open fire.
