In the presidential elections in Moldova, according to preliminary data, the current head of state, Igor Dodon, wins.

According to point.md, this is evidenced in the data processing of 50% of the ballots. Dodon is winning 36% of the vote, his main competitor, former Prime Minister Maia Sandu, has 30%. Thus, they go to the second electoral round.

In addition, the votes were distributed as follows:

  • Renato Mustache – 16%;
  • Violetta Ivanov – 8%;
  • Andrey Nastase: 3%;
  • Octavian Tsyku: 1%;
  • Tudor Deliu – 1%;
  • Dorin Chirtoaca – 1%

Note that in 2016, Dodon said that the occupied Crimea belongs to Russia. During his presidency, he repeatedly visited Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin.

Presidential elections in Moldova: what is known

The threshold for participation in the first round of the elections is 33.3%. The winner of the presidential election is the candidate who has received more than half the votes of the voters included in the lists. If the votes are less than 50%, the second round will take place in two weeks.

On election day, 6,000 police officers are in charge of order. Movement in the country is allowed only for vehicles with a capacity of no more than eight people.
