Former President Petro Poroshenko said that despite Vladimir Zelensky’s deviations from power vis-à-vis Russia, he is willing to support some of his steps. And even through his own channels, he lobbies for a phone conversation between his successor as president and the head of the White House, Joe Biden.
Poroshenko said this in a video message posted on Facebook.
“In all these steps (in the reforms and the fight against corruption – Ed.) We, as a state opposition, are ready to support the authorities. Even now we are pushing for a phone conversation between Biden and Zelensky through our connections. We are not trying for Zelensky, of course, but for the state, because Ukraine’s national interests require a dialogue with the United States at the highest level. Our security depends on it, our victory in the war with Russia depends on it. The prospect of our membership in the European Union and NATO depends on this. The future of Ukraine depends on this, “said Petro Poroshenko.
“Poroshenko continues to pretend to be a man with great connections in Washington,” comments the Telegram channel Politics of the Country. “But this is an external tinsel.
