The ice in the Poltava region paralyzed traffic. This was stated by the head of the central bus station in Poltava Ksenia Levenko, UNIAN reports on Monday, December 14.
In Poltava in particular, around 80% of suburban, inter-city and international transport was not carried out on flights.
“All because of the ice and the threat of traffic accidents. Even the suburban minibuses do not go, because the ice is frozen. In the morning, the buses from Gadyach, Shishakov and Lokhvitsa did not leave for us. The buses still left us in direction to Voronezh, Dnipro, Kiev. direction, the movement will probably start with lunch, “Levenko said.
In turn, the head of Poltavaavtotrans Sergei Butko says that on December 14, 30% of flights from bus stations were canceled in the region.
At the same time, the roads are already sprayed, but the situation is complicated by the fact that the rain washes away the salt mixture and the asphalt refreezes. Therefore, it is necessary to spray the roads every two hours, but this is not always possible.
As a reminder, in Kiev over the weekend, more than 1,300 people were injured due to the ice. In addition, there were twice as many victims on Saturday as on Sunday. More than 150 children are among the victims.
It was also reported that in Ukraine due to bad weather there was a failure in the movement of trains. Operational teams are working to combat contact wire icing, Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
