The Polish Office for the Protection of Competition and Consumers (UOKiK) issued a fine of one billion dollars to Gazprom and five European companies for cooperating in the Nord Stream-2 project. This was announced on Wednesday, October 7, by department head Tomasz Khrustny, writes TASS.

“We have legalized the process of construction and financing of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The investigation was scrupulously carried out,” he said.

As a result, five companies “were imposed a total fine of 385 million zlotys ($ 100 million), Gazprom received a fine of 29 billion zlotys ($ 7.6 billion).

“Within 30 days after receiving the decision, the firms must terminate the contract [о строительстве]”, – said Khrustny and explained that companies can challenge the decision of the regulator.

He pointed out that the construction of the gas pipeline violates Polish antitrust laws.

As a reminder, in August, the Polish antitrust regulator fined Gazprom 213 million zlotys (about 50 million euros) in connection with the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The company was fined for refusing to provide documents for a financing investigation. of the construction.
