The Ukrainian captured by the ship Tommi Ritscher was taken by pirates in an unknown direction.

On the Benin coast, pirates attacked a ship and kidnapped a Ukrainian.
The Director of the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Pogoreltsev said this in a comment to UNIAN.

According to him, on April 20, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Federal Republic of Germany received a message that a pirate attack on the ship Tommi Ritscher (IMO 9656137, flag of Portugal) was carried out off the coast of Benin, the ship operator – Transeste Schiffahrt Gmbh (Germany).
“According to preliminary information, as a result of the attack, a Ukrainian citizen, a member of the ship’s crew, was captured and taken in an unknown direction.
In view of this, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Hamburg has contacted the operator of the ship to clarify the circumstances of the case.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Nigeria (responsible for Benin) also appealed to the Benin authorities to confirm the capture of the Ukrainian.
The case is under the control of the involved foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine and the Department of Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
