People’s MP Oleksandr Yurchenko, who is suspected of bribery, said he had not committed any crime.

Oleksandr Yurchenko, a non-factional people’s deputy who is suspected of bribery, said he would not resign his mandate as a deputy. On September 29, he informed the Radio Svoboda correspondent about this near the Verkhovna Rada building.

“In no case did the people choose me, they gave me responsibilities, I have to fulfill those duties. And the more you see that my activity, apparently, interferes with someone, and we will continue fighting, ”says Yurchenko.

According to the people’s deputy, the bail was made by “people who are not indifferent to the situation with the environment in the Kiev region and are concerned about the problems of landfills.”

“My position: I did not commit any crime, I did not take money, I did not induce anyone and I did not demand money from anyone. Now I cannot reveal other circumstances as the pre-trial investigation continues,” Yurchenko said.

On September 21, VAKS arrested Yurchenko until November 9 with the opportunity to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 3 million. On September 23, the court arrested the politician’s property.

According to NABU, the People’s Deputy “in a veiled way” requested to transfer $ 13,000 through an intermediary to make proposals to the bill related to the field of household waste, and more than $ 200,000 for bribery of parliamentarians, members of the Rada profile committee.

Attorney General Irina Venediktova signed Yurchenko’s suspicion on September 17. On the same day, Yurchenko received a suspicion, he was expelled from the Servant of the People faction and also interrogated at NABU and SAP.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expects “more demonstration prisons” on corruption cases and that Yurchenko “will definitely go to jail.”

In court, Yurchenko denied the bribery charges and described himself as a fighter for justice.

On September 25, Yurchenko was posted bail and he was released from the remand center. They put an electronic bracelet on him.
