Pensions in Ukraine will fall sharply: payments will be half

Retired Ukrainians receive about 28.7% of their last salary. Little by little this figure will decrease to 18%… For example, with a salary of 10 thousand hryvnias, now you can receive about 2.87 thousand hryvnias, and in 2055, under the same conditions, already 1.8 thousand hryvnias.

This is stated in the OBOZREVATEL material. “There is an explanation for such indicators: 13.2 million employees pay contributions and 11.2 million pensioners receive pensions“, – said the Minister of Social Policy Marina Lazebnaya.

And this is still a relatively positive outlook. Prime Minister Denis Shmygal believes that in 15 years Ukrainians (if nothing is changed) will not receive any pension. The reason is the same: the demographic situation.

“There will be few healthy people and many retirees. The ratio will be 1 to 2. We will have to double taxes so that retirees can be supported. Companies no longer want to raise taxes. Doubling them is impossible. We will not be able to pay pensions to future pensioners in 15 years. It’s simple math“, – said the prime minister.

Why will pensions decrease?

  • since 2017 reduced the “cost” of each year of experience… As a result, all pensioners under the new rules receive 26% lower payments;

  • in the 2000s toughened experience requirements: the period of training, the time the employee was “registered” but did not receive a salary, and so on. they were no longer included in it;

  • in 2016 halved the unified social contribution Salary (ERU): replenishes the Pension Fund budget;

  • the demographic situation in the country is deteriorating: there are fewer workers and the number of pensioners (in percentage) is growing;

  • in Ukraine low wages, high level of the black economy.

As OBOZREVATEL already wrote, with a pension of 3.5 thousand UAH, the amount of the increase can be about 385 UAH. If the decision is postponed from March, for example, to December, the Ukrainians will lose 3.4 thousand UAH.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote in detail about what the Cabinet of Ministers pension reform will look like and why the situation with the payment of pensions in Ukraine will get worse every year.
