Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said during the meeting that additional funds will be allocated from the state budget. Laboratory centers subordinate to the Ministry of Health will additionally allocate 100 million UAH for the purchase of PCR testing services in health institutions, regardless of the form of ownership.
«With this law, we add private laboratories to the testing process, that is, to make it free for Ukrainian citizens, ”he said.
It is not yet clear how exactly the free tests in private laboratories will work.
Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, commenting on this decision, said:
«People don’t have to wait several days for COVID-19 test results. “
On October 9, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a series of decisions to counteract the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine, in particular, it allocated 72 million for the purchase of oxygen for the fund of hospital beds of medical institutions where patients with COVID-19.
Earlier, Ukraine’s chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko, promised that in two to three weeks, family doctors and mobile teams will be able to carry out express tests for the coronavirus, showing the result in half an hour.
In Ukraine, for the third day in a row, anti-registrations are recorded in the number of new infections per day: during the previous day, the coronavirus in Ukraine was found in 5804 people, the day before, in 5397 people, on October 7, at 4753.
In total, as of October 9, during the entire pandemic in Ukraine, COVID-19 fell ill with 250,538 people, of which 110,650 recovered, deaths – 4,779.
