Armenia felt the support of Russia during the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, reports TASS on Saturday, November 21.
“I want to point out that during the war we have always felt the support of the Russian Federation, the President of the Russian Federation, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, their personal support and I want to thank him for this,” said Pashinyan.
He also expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with Russia, including in the field of security. “But not only security, technical-military cooperation,” added the Prime Minister of Armenia.
In turn, Shoigu assured Pashinyan that Russia intends to prevent further bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Earlier, an intergovernmental delegation from Russia arrived in Yerevan, which includes Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and Rospotrebnadzor Chief Anna Popova.
The leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan previously agreed to end the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 10. The parties to the conflict decided their positions. Thus, Azerbaijan gained control of the territories of the Aghdam, Gazakh, Kelbajar and Lachin regions. In addition, Russian peacekeepers entered the region for at least five years.
