Parliament said the 2021 budget “must be saved”

Daniil Getmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada’s Financial, Tax and Customs Policy Committee, said the 2021 state budget draft of “disgusting quality” “must be saved.” He evaluated the document presented by the Ministry of Finance in an interview with Economic Truth.

He is also “embarrassed” by the magnitude of the budget deficit and will table amendments to reduce it.

“According to my calculations, the Ministry of Finance deliberately or mistakenly reduced budget revenues by 79.310 million. I also see unreasonable expenses totaling 9.63 million,” he said.

The popular deputy proposes to reduce the deficit of the state budget to 4.9%.

“What happened this year can be explained by the crisis and the coronavirus, but this is not allowed next year. We will not allow manual management of public finances,” Getmantsev added.

We recall, the Council of Ministers transferred the state budget for 2021 to the Rada on September 18. They plan to accept it until December.

The popular deputies have already presented more than 5,000 amendments to the budget. It will be considered in first reading on October 20.
