Opening derby and boring zeros. Lviv failed to beat Rukh in the majority

For the new Lviv derby at UPL, Rukh head coach Ivan Fedyk made only one change to the starting lineup compared to the match with Desna in the championship: the experienced Fedorchuk entered the field instead of Kopina. Giorgi Tsetsadze made more staff rotations after the crushing defeat of his positions by Zorya. In place of Litovchenko, Borzenko, Komarts and Nycha, young goalkeepers Kostik, Mikhobi, Kazlauskas and Grysio entered the field, and for Kostik it was their UPL debut match.

The game’s first dangerous moments occurred in Ruh’s goal, and Koshman could have scored twice. First, after Felipe’s raid, Igor hit right off the goal frame, and then Koshman so “twisted” the ball under the crossbar that Bandura had to transfer the “ball” to the corner on the shot. Felipe could have stood out too, but hit his head too vaguely.

Rukh’s players gradually leveled the game, and Klimchuk had a chance, but after Mysyk’s pass he shot incorrectly. In the middle of the half, Fedorchuk recalled his dangerous shots, which he punched in the near corner and Kostik, without risking, moved the ball to the corner. Martynyuk made a strong pass to the far corner, but Kuharevich didn’t have time to finish the ball.

The game remained open and dangerous moments emerged time and time again. First, Felipe attacked from the left edge of the attack with the bottom near the far post. And then Paramonov broke the rules against Kazlauskas, who was rushing toward goal, and according to referee Kutakov, this violation led to a red card. For Paramonov, this is already the second removal in the UPL, and the first that he “won” while still in the composition of “Lvov”.

Being a majority, the nominal guests could be the first to open the scoring, but Koshman missed the goal from a free throw. And after the Kazlauskas attack, the experienced Bandura eliminated the threat. At the end of the half, first Shina fired close to the post and then the Rukh goalkeeper took the corner in time after Grysio’s pass.

The beginning of the second half was developed in an equal fight, but the matter did not reach the scoring chances in both gates. Trying to activate and strengthen the game of his players, Fedyk made a double substitution, releasing Kondrakov and Bogdan Boychuk on the field. Tsetsadze also turned to substitutions, releasing Nycha on the field.

It was not easy for the Lvov players to get past the huge defensive redoubts. So the “townspeople” began to resort to long-range strikes, and Koshman fired over the crossbar of the goal. After one of the guest attacks, the ball, after hitting Nycha, still flew into the net, but the assistant referee fixed the offside position.

After one of the attacks, the “townspeople” got a promising free kick, but after Kazlauskas struck, the ball from Fedorchuk’s leg bounced around a corner. The Lvov players took several corners and after one of them Nych had a real chance to excel, who fired from a few meters above the gate. The “Rukh” players were also able to snatch the victory, when after a cross from Rusin, Kravchuk almost “cut” the ball into his own goal.

As a result, the spectators of the Lviv derby at the Arena Lviv did not receive any goals. Lviv, for which it was the 100th game at UPL, interrupted several of its series of club records. It ended the losing streak of “citizens” in the championships, which lasted 6 matches, and the passing streak of “Lvov” in the UPL, which lasted 13 matches (34 goals). But Lviv continues to maintain the club’s anti-record losing streak in the championships, which has lasted 17 rounds since February 29: 7 draws and 10 losses. For the first time since his Premier League debut, Rukh did not score a goal and kept his goal clean.
