Sanctions against Ukraine imposed on the Russian Federation did not achieve their goal, says president’s office

Russian sanctions were imposed in the context of a series of scandalous events: the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and the protracted political crisis in Belarus, recalled the office of the Ukrainian president.

The inclusion of Ukrainian citizens in the sanctions list of the Russian Federation has no logical explanation and is a situational speculation. This is stated in the message from the Office of the Presidency, published on Saturday, September 5.

“The motivation for such actions is always for propaganda purposes,” stressed the office of the President of Ukraine.

Russian sanctions were imposed in the context of a series of scandalous events: the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and the protracted political crisis in Belarus, recalled the office of the Ukrainian president.

The Russian Federation is trying to protect its situational interests and reduce the informational impact of numerous negative factors on public opinion within its country, emphasizes the president’s office.

The Russian government has reportedly expanded sanctions against Ukraine. The list, among others, includes former Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko and former Verkhovna Rada MP Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.
