The office of the president of Ukraine ordered NJSC Naftogaz to prepare a payment order for the payment of a 94 million UAH bond to the former CEO of the company, Yuriy Vitrenko.
This was reported by UNN with reference to its own sources. Therefore, the OP allegedly wants to help Vitrenko, who is applying for the position of Minister of Energy, to avoid a conflict of interest.
As you know, the former head of the NJSC previously filed a lawsuit with the Kiev Pechersky Court demanding that the unprofitable state company pay him 94 million UAH in bonuses for winning the Stockholm arbitration on the Russian Gazprom. And since Vitrenko is also one of the candidates for the post of Minister of Energy, this creates a conflict of interest.
Therefore, the President’s Office believes that paying a premium of UAH 94 million will allow Vitrenko to get the money he wants without waiting for a court decision.
At the same time, NJSC Naftogaz ceased to be profitable, even as a result of Vitrenko’s own work (for 9 months of 2020, the loss amounted to $ 600 million).
