Ukrainians have to wait a long time for coronavirus vaccines
The authorities do not plan to buy Russian vaccines. They have European developments and “surplus”.
The Office of the President is considering three options to obtain a vaccine against the coronavirus, among which there is no possibility of deliveries from Russia. OP Deputy Chief Igor Zhovkva said exactly how they hope to provide vaccines to Ukrainians in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, published on Monday, October 12.
According to him, agreements have already been signed with two vaccine production companies, four more are being negotiated.
“First, President Zelensky said that today we already have pharmaceutical capacities that are ready to produce a vaccine of this type in Ukraine. Of course, if our production capacities are adapted to those companies, such a vaccine will reach Ukraine sooner.” If we produce it for other countries, we will also produce it ourselves under the relevant agreements. This is one way, ”says Zhovkva.
The second option is the possibility of buying vaccines if there is a surplus from the EU countries.
And the third way – given that we are carrying out a dialogue, we have joined the relevant mechanisms for public procurement, we can be in line with partner countries ”, said the deputy director of the PO.
It admits that Ukraine can receive a one-time vaccine according to all possible options.
At the same time, Zhovkva also mentioned the fourth option – the purchase or production of a British vaccine in Ukraine. “Perhaps the British vaccine can be obtained even faster,” he concluded.
Earlier, the People’s Deputy of the People’s Server Oleksandr Kachura said that Ukraine would be obliged to buy the Russian coronavirus vaccine if its effectiveness is proven.
The Kremlin said today that the only condition for the sale of vaccines to Ukraine is their wish.
