In 30% of cases, a coronavirus patient has a negative PCR test

The Ministry of Health says this is due to the collection of material and the physiological characteristics of the body.

The PCR test does not detect the coronavirus in 30% of COVID-19 patients. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov, in a briefing on Tuesday, October 27.

Because of this, only those who have clinical symptoms of the disease are hospitalized and treated in Ukraine.

Stepanov added that there are several reasons for the inaccurate diagnosis of coronavirus using PCR tests.

“This is due to the collection of material, the physiological characteristics of the body. It is related, among other things, to the location of the virus when taking a smear for PCR diagnosis,” the minister explained.

Recall that previously the Ministry of Health announced a record number of tests for the coronavirus. In Ukraine, at the end of November, they want to reach 50 thousand PCR tests per day, the department explained.

It was also reported that the Ministry of Health will award UAH 100 million to private laboratories testing COVID. The remains of the coronavirus tests, which remain in state laboratories, are scheduled to be transferred for analysis to private clinics.
