One of the creators of the blockchain said who may be behind the name of Satoshi Nakamoto.

Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto was likely a person, and not a group of people, while he did not need extensive knowledge in many disciplines. Such an opinion in an interview with Cointelegraph was expressed by one of the inventors of the blockchain Scott Stornett.

In 1991 Stornetta, co-author with Stuart Heyber in the Journal of Cryptology, published a paper on timestamps on digital documents. Subsequently, this work was mentioned in the bitcoin white paper.

Stornetta himself rejects the suggestion that he could participate in the creation of bitcoin. It also excludes the possibility that a hateful Australian businessman Craig Wright was involved in this.

Speaking about who can hide behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, Stornetta believes it was most likely a person. At the same time, he insists that the creation of bitcoin did not require extensive knowledge in many disciplines, for this it was enough to follow the ideas of the crypto bank movement.

“The arguments about teamwork come down to the fact that it was necessary to understand not only cryptography, but also to have knowledge in programming, economics, mathematics, monetary policy, etc. But frankly, I see it as a software developer who oversaw the distribution of crypto banks. I think this was only enough to have the necessary level of understanding of crypto and economics. “ – Stornetta said

Stornetta also subscribed to the cipherpunk newsletter, however, unsubscribed even before the creation of bitcoin.

According to him, despite the Japanese name, Satoshi was a representative of Western culture, who lived in the eastern part of the United States. Stornett bases his assumption when sending emails to the creator of Bitcoin.

He doesn’t rule out that he may meet Satoshi at one of the many crypto conferences held at the University of California at Santa Barbara. At these events, the ideas of cryptography, software development and economic incentives were discussed extensively, which are subsequently featured in bitcoin.

However, Satoshi Nakamoto, most likely, was not an experienced specialist in the field of crypto.

“All his ideas floated among the cryptographers. For example, ideas about profitability were a typical topic of discussion in this community. I think several hundred people might be suitable for this role. There is some evidence that this person was not a specialist in cryptology. I think the implementation he created also attests to that. ”– Stornetta said

According to him, Satoshi’s genius does not have in-depth knowledge in any particular field, but rather the ability to gather ideas from various fields into a brilliant mosaic.

“I belong to the field of those who believe that Bitcoin was the work of a genius. But this is more an art, an engineering art that opens the door to a whole series of possibilities, but it is not the best final solution that can be created. “ – Stornetta concluded.
