The European Commission has proposed to EU countries to cancel the transfer of watches twice a year. The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine informed that they will also consider the possibility of making the appropriate changes.
On the night of October 25 in Ukraine, the clock will be turned back one hour. This was reported on October 23 by the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
“On October 25, 2020 at 4:00 Kiev time, the clock hands were delayed one hour,” the message reads.
According to the ministry, a similar procedure operates in the EU to calculate the time on the basis of a directive of the European Parliament of January 19, 2001 on the transition to summer time.
“The European Commission proposed to reconsider this issue and cancel the transfer of watches twice a year. Each EU country until April 2021 must decide what time it will stay: summer or winter,” they added in the statement.
If a decision is made at the legislative level in the EU to cancel the transfer of hours and in order to harmonize the legislation to the EU, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will be asked to consider making the appropriate changes to the legislation the ministry said.
On the last Sunday in March, Ukraine switches to daylight saving time and moves the clock hands forward one hour.
In September 2011, Verkhovna Rada canceled the change of the clocks to winter time, but in October the parliament canceled its decision.
