The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, Borys Tarasyuk, condemned the new verdict of the Russian court against a group of Muslims, Crimean Tatars, accused in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” of Belogorsk and called for the punishment of the invaders. On January 12 they were sentenced to long prison terms.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian delegation to the Council of Europe on the Facebook page.

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine demanded that Russia cancel the court’s decision and immediately release all Ukrainian citizens who are illegally detained by Russia.

“All this indicates that the Russian judicial system has nothing to do with justice, but only continues the policy of persecuting the Crimean Tatars and suppressing any signs of dissent in occupied Crimea. at the announcement of the sentence of this dragon, they were held for almost 9 hours on the Kerch bridge without hot drinks or food at zero temperature ”, emphasized Tarasyuk.

Ukraine calls on the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe and the member states of the Council of Europe to respond resolutely to these illegal actions, and demand that the Russian Federation stop violating international law, including international human rights and humanitarian standards in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories.

Let us remind you that today the Russian court announced the verdict to the “Belogorsk group of Hizb ut-Tahrir”. Three Crimean Tatars were illegally sentenced to 13, 16 and 18 years in prison.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has already reacted to the decision of the Russian court. The department called on the international community to increase pressure on Russia.
