On Wednesday, January 13, in Oberhof, Germany, the men’s sprint took place as part of the sixth stage of the World Cup. For the biathletes of the Ukraine men’s team, this was the last chance to qualify for the first massive outing in 2021, as none of them are in the top 25 of the overall World Cup rankings, and there will be no races of chase at this stage.

Captain Dmitry Pidruchny successfully seized this opportunity. The only mistake he made was on the standing shot, but after that he didn’t give up and gave a magnificent last circle, which even the winner Johannes Boe can envy!

Dmitry came to a high seventh place, showing the second best result of the season. Therefore, Pidruchny qualified for the massive start as the best on the stage among those not in the top 25 overall.

To get into the top three, it was necessary not only to run well, but also to close all the goals. In addition to Johannes Boe, another Norwegian Sturla Legraid and a German Arnd Peiffer coped with this, they have second and third place respectively.

Ukrainians Artem Prima and Anton Dudchenko entered the top 50, while Artem Tishchenko and Ruslan Tkalenko frankly failed in the sprint. It will not be easy for mentor Yurai Sanitra to decide the composition of the male relay …

Race results:

1. Johannes Tingnes Bö (0 + 0) 24: 43.6
2. Sturla Curettage (0 + 0) +12.4
