“NSC Olimpiyskiy turf does not reach the level of Metalist Stadium”

[ad_1]

From this season, Shakhtar decided to play his home games in Kiev at NSC Olimpiyskiy, and not in Kharkiv at OSK Metalist.

Vadim Gunko, Director of the Operations Department of Shakhtar-Service LLC, spoke about the difference between the lawns of the two main sands of Ukraine.

– Work is in progress on preparing the lawn. Now it intensifies. Our club has developed a program, taking into account the experience of preparing lawns of the highest level, and it is being implemented jointly with NSC Olimpiyskiy. Today’s range of events is much wider than before. The state of the grass is satisfactory, one could even say good. In all honesty, it falls short of OSK Metalist level, taking many factors into account. A big disadvantage is that it is a lawn without a reinforcement system. Also, there have been no renovations since 2011-2012. All this affects the quality characteristics.

– What are the requirements of the coaching staff?

– They have known each other for a long time, and there is nothing unique here. All top teams want 100% grass and turf. It must be stable, with a good bounce of the ball and a certain height of the grass, in our situation, generally well below 30 millimeters. We will endeavor to meet these requirements as much as weather and other factors allow.
