Ukraine’s head coach Andriy Shevchenko spoke after the match with the German team (1: 2) in the Nations League.
– Andrey Nikolaevich, what are the most positive moments that you could point out in the game against Germany, despite the defeat that night?
– Of course, the most positive moment is the public in the stands. Soccer match for spectators. These are completely different emotions. It was very nice that there was a full house. It was important to us. This is the most positive moment of the game.
As for the game, it’s good that everyone gave in on the pitch, especially after the problems we faced. There was a correct reaction from the guys after France. They completed the installation. We have changed the game model. We must adapt to what we have. The players who came out played an official match for the first time and did very well.
– What can Ukrainian fans expect in this Nations League?
– For me it is preparation for the final part of the Euro and preparation for the selection of the World Championship. If we can stay in this group, it will be good. The problems that have arisen, including due to the coronavirus, have affected our game. We have a problem if 1-2 players fold. But we had more than 10 players. But we deliberately opted for such an experiment. Perhaps one of the boys will soon win a place in the main team.
If we take, for example, the running distance of the Dynamo and Shakhtar players, we cannot compare ourselves to the best European championships. Boys need to play at a different level and at different speeds. This is a big difference in modern football. This greatly affects the level and the game.
– Will you still have the strength to play against the Spanish team? Will the team need to pass another test?
– Yes, we have another coronavirus test. This is a mandatory procedure. We don’t plan on calling anyone. The most important thing now is to recover. It was a difficult match. We have a small bank, but I will not call anyone for the amount. We will look at those we can count on in the future, – said Shevchenko after the match.
