Argentina’s representative Nadia Podoroska, who has Ukrainian roots, commented on her debut in the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournament, and also shared her expectations of the match with Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina.

“Today, the key to victory was maximum concentration. It was very windy and I didn’t feel very confident on the court. I started making mistakes from the beginning. But I tried to think positively and not think about bad things. At the end of the first set, I started to move better than at the beginning. I started to play better from the right. Already in the second set my opponent started to make mistakes and luckily I managed to break. From that moment I started to feel better.

I don’t try to think about the weather conditions, because they are the same for us. I have already played many games in those conditions, so I got used to it and it was a bit more comfortable to play. No, I am not tired and I feel fresh. Fortunately, I didn’t play too long games. I feel very, very good. Now I am like in a dream. I have always dreamed of playing in such tournaments. I’m very happy.

My next opponent is a strong tennis player. She has a lot of experience. But I’ll try to play my tennis like I did today. I’m looking forward to this meeting, ”Podoroska said.
