Oleg Bondarenko, the mayor of Novgorod-Seversky in the Chernihiv region, died of COVID-19.
The people’s deputy of the people’s servant, Maxim Zuev, wrote about this on Facebook.
«Oleg Bondarenko, mayor of Novgorod-Seversky, passed away. COVID-19. Sincere condolences for family and friends, ”he said.
Oleg Bondarenko was 47 years old. From March 2014 to November 2015, he was the head of the district council in Novgorod-Seversky. On November 18, 2015, he became mayor of the city.
The Suspilne publication, citing a parallel vote count, reported that Oleg Bondarenko was re-elected for a second term during local elections on October 25.
Suspilne also reports Bondarenko’s death, referring to the chief physician of the regional hospital Andrei Zhidenko.
According to the newspaper, the mayor was hospitalized on the night of Wednesday, October 28, in serious condition. He was on oxygen therapy, then he was hooked up to a ventilator, 80% of his lungs were affected.
We will remember, on October 28, that the mayor of Borispol, Anatoly Fedorchuk, died of coronavirus. Based on the results of a parallel vote count, he could lead the city again.
