Normandy meeting: Kravchuk sees no prerequisites for the summit

Today there are no prerequisites for the Normandy meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France in 2021. This is due to the fact that Moscow is not changing position.

This was stated in an interview with liga.net by the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Leonid Kravchuk.

“So far, I (the prerequisites – ed.) I don’t see. So far, I don’t see because Russia is raising the same issue: formally says yes, yes, and the advisers meet, say something. But in fact, now Russia is speaking “It is not necessary to meet in the Normandy format because the tasks of the previous Normandy meeting on December 9 have not been fulfilled,” Kravchuk said.

At the same time, according to him, Ukraine has fulfilled the main tasks and Russia is not doing its part.

“In Paris, this document was signed by President Putin. He did not sign it for Ukraine, but for Russia, but he does not comply with it. They play blind man: they say one thing, they think another, they do the third,” added Kravchuk.

He stressed that he doubted the responsible actions of the Russian side, but after the winter holidays “we will see where the political situation is heading.”

We will recall, earlier in the Kremlin he ruled out the holding of the Normandy summit in the near future and said that for the talks between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky today “there is no basis”.

At the same time, it was reported that Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel want to intensify the work of the Normandy Four advisers.
