The Russian ship Fortuna, with the help of which the pipes are being installed, has abandoned the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and is returning to the German port of Wismar. The reasons for the ship’s return to the parking lot are unknown.
This is evidenced by maritime traffic data.
The vessel has been in a German port since the end of September, and in early December it headed to German waters for the Nord Stream 2 construction site, where work was resumed on December 11.
On the morning of December 26, the ship left the construction site and is now heading towards Wismar.
According to the plan, the ship would participate in the laying of 2.6 kilometers of each of the lines of the pipeline to a depth of 30 meters.
This week it was reported that the United States of America will impose new sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the coming weeks. Washington calls on European allies and private companies to stop helping the pipeline.
Remember that in early December, Russia resumed construction of Nord Stream 2, which was halted due to US sanctions. The foreign company that installed the pipeline refused to continue working due to the sanctions.
