During the weekend quarantine, non-food items can be sold in supermarkets.

Retail establishments in which at least 60% of the area is allocated for food can work during the weekend quarantine. In these stores the sale of non-food items is allowed.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Health, Head of State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, Viktor Lyashko, reports the press service of the Ministry of Health.

“We are receiving information that the regulatory authorities are requiring supermarkets and stores to close the departments of non-food items or to remove such items from the shelves,” said the state health chief physician.

According to him, the provisions of the weekend quarantine decree clearly establish the rules according to which the work of commercial establishments is allowed.

“Now we are faced with cases of literal interpretation of what is written in the regulations. It should be noted that the corresponding paragraph of the weekend quarantine decree allows supermarkets and stores with an area of 60% or more for food products, without limiting the commercial scope of the institution, ”added Lyashko.
