Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal decided to tell Ukrainians about the government’s plans for quarantine.
The weekend quarantine is now a reasonable alternative to shutdown, he said. Last weekend, it became clear that people have restricted their movement as much as possible since the spring quarantine. So there were fewer contacts and chances of getting infected, respectively.
Therefore, this and next weekend this quarantine format will remain in effect. After them, they will evaluate your results, in particular, by the number of patients.
Shmyhal does not deny that the introduction of a stricter quarantine is being considered, but it is more likely to be a “plan B” if the weekend quarantine does not work.
The prime minister noted that this plan is being publicly discussed. The government meets with representatives of churches, businesses, city leaders, epidemiologists, and infectious disease specialists. The situation in each region is considered separately.
At the same time, according to Shmygal, there is no specific date for the introduction of the lock now.
As Vgorode previously wrote, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov recently spoke about the introduction of a strict quarantine. He said the government could introduce a blockade if the daily number of infected people is around 30,000 people.
