Armenian President Armen Sarkissian called for the resignation of the country’s government amid defeat in the Karabakh war.

He said this during a meeting with the Armenian community in Moscow, writes DW.

According to Sargsyan, this is the only decision of the government of the country in which “such a tragedy has occurred”.

“The crisis cannot be evaluated only by the number of people present in the square. It is not only a crisis of the state, but also of the nation: human rights, psychological, financial, economic, humanitarian,” Sargsyan said.

The Armenian president sees a way out of the crisis by holding early elections and creating an interim government by national agreement.

As previously reported, the active phase of the war for Nagorno-Karabakh ended on the night of November 10 with the signing of an agreement on the cessation of hostilities.

After that, a political crisis broke out in Armenia and there were several resignations in the government.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he was not going to resign.
