The new strain of the mutated COVID-19 coronavirus, which is being talked about in the UK, is already in Ukraine. In particular, infectious disease doctor Viktor Petrov claims that it was this a form of coronavirus one of his patients fell ill.
Viktor Petrov said this on the air of Ukraine 24.
Now, according to him, in the border regions with European countries, it can already be seen that the clinical picture of coronavirus infection is changing something, especially in young people.
“That is, there may be no anosmia (loss of sensitivity to odors – ed.), But the damage to the lung tissue is developing quite actively, although everything is mild,” said Viktor Petrov.
The doctor also spoke about his patient Nikolay. It was he, says Petrov, who contracted a new strain of coronavirus.
“One such example is my patient Nikolai. He is a migrant worker, traveling from Ukraine to the Czech Republic and vice versa. And he has already had a new strain, which was announced by the UK. When it came to verifying this, Ukraine did not was able to identify this virus en masse But people who have insurance in EU countries can identify an already mutated virus. And so I was able to confirm that there are already cases of infection with a new strain of virus in Transcarpathia, “he said.
According to Viktor Petrov, first of all, it should be noted that the mutation of the virus occurs naturally.
“This virus naturally mutates very actively, just like hepatitis C or influenza viruses. Why? Because it contains only one RNA, this is a carrier of genetic material,” added the doctor.
Remember first case of a new strain of COVID-19 discovered in the UK, and it became known on December 14. More than a thousand cases of infection with this new strain have already been registered.
England’s Public Health Service reported on December 20 that a new variant of the coronavirus in Britain began to spread rapidly in mid-November, and could appear in the country as a whole from September 2020. At the same time, a mid-November, it spread rather slowly.
It is known that the mutated The coronavirus “VUI – 202012/01” is easier to transmitUnlike its predecessors, however, there is no evidence that it increases the likelihood of serious illness or death. Investigations in this direction continue.
